Website Design for Small Businesses

  • A website is now as essential to modern business as a telephone, letterhead, or business card but thousands of small and medium-sized companies have yet to make this essential investment.
  • Ask yourself some basic questions, maybe look at the Simple Websites page, then ask if you can afford not to have your own website.
  • Do you have an existing website which needs refreshing but you're not sure where to start, or maybe you don't even quite know why you think it's beginning to look outdated?
  • Have a look at the examples of my work below. You won't find wild graphics, although I can do wild graphics if they're appropriate, but I do pride myself on clear navigation and appropriate content.

ArchiMentor

www.archimentor.net

ArchiMentor is a collaborative knowledge-sharing password-protected subscription website providing information and advice for architects and other construction industry professionals on a wide range of legislative, technical, and management issues. Each Knowledge page, specially written for the site by a knowledgeable technical author, covers a specific topic, often in great detail. An alphabetical listing, supported by a search facility, enables rapid access to the relevant information. The site has been live from Summer 2006.

PlanChest

www.planchest.net

PlanChest is a database and document management system used by architects and building contractors. The original purpose of the site was to provide an online help and technical support system which could be easily updated as the product evolved. Basic sales and marketing information was added later. The site has been live since Spring 2002 with regular maintenance over the first eighteen months. A major redesign is currently planned.

Terre Folle

www.terrefolle.com

A simple five page site advertising a French gite available for holiday rentals. The site is intended primarily as an 'online brochure' to supplement word-of-mouth recommendations. The site has been live from early 2002 with minimal maintenance carried out on a annual basis.
