This is an idea which I've unashamedly stolen from PC Pro magazine whose A-List is the first place that I look for recommendations before buying new hardware or software, and has been for years.
Hardware
- Desktops and laptops : Dell : I know that Dell is not a very sexy hardware supplier but I've bought a lot of equipment from them over the years and it's all, as far as I am aware, still going strong, including an early Inspiron laptop which just refuses to die despite years of abuse. To update the old saying "No one was ever sacked for buying Dell."
- Printers : Canon/HP : I've had basic home/home office printers from both and they've just gone on-and-on. The current Canon Pixma MP610 all-in-one is as good as the PC Pro Review says it is.
